New Application Allows Prospective Students to InterACT with Campus
(Manville, NJ – January 9, 2009) New Jersey based advertising and design agency Galvanek & Wahl has just put the finishing touches on an all new, completely interactive web application for campus tours. InterACT (the Interactive Application for Campus Tours) is a completely customizable virtual walk-through of high school and college campuses that allows prospective students to “visit” their potential schools without ever having to leave the comfort of their own home.
Creator of InterACT and President/CEO of G&W, Paxton Galvanek, explains that “InterACT will completely change the way students research potential schools. Now, they’ll be able to get an in-depth look at campus facilities and hear first-hand what the school has to offer them from actual students and teachers. It’s the next generation of campus tours!”
The application is completely customized for each school, featuring video clips starring actual students and teachers from each school and filmed entirely on location. The application takes potential students on a virtual tour of the campus by allowing them to select from several clickable areas on a campus map. Each area is populated by several videos corresponding to the school’s most marketable feature.
InterACT has already been utilized by the Peddie School, a prestigious private high school located in Hightstown, NJ. Peddie contracted G&W in the summer of 2008 to develop a fully interactive online tour that would educate and engage potential students. G&W developed the creative concept, managed all production, and developed their unique online tour application. The G&W development team worked closely with the Peddie Admissions Department to ensure that all core messaging was incorporated into the film segments and the design team worked closely with Peddie’s IT department to ensure the application worked seamlessly on the Peddie School servers. The online tour application contains a map of the school grounds, 9 clickable areas, 37 video clips, and the ability to navigate around the school grounds by clicking on areas of interest. To take the tour for yourself, visit www.peddie.org.
Sean Casey, Director of Marketing & Communication for Peddie describes his experience with InterACT in saying, “As one of the top independent boarding schools in the country, here at Peddie, we were looking for a partner to create a more dynamic user-controlled experience on our website, merging video production and interactive web development. Galvanek & Wahl rose to the challenge by helping us create an interactive campus tour where our prospective families not only get a sense of our remarkable facilities, but more importantly, an appreciation for our wonderfully talented faculty and student body.”

Manville Façade Improvement Grants
The following is a letter from Mayor Lillian M. Zuza of Manville, NJ sent to the MBPA on 10/21/08:
October 21, 2008
All Main Street Property Owners
Re: Façade Improvement Grants
Dear Property Owners:
I am pleased to announce that the Borough of Manville has received yet another Somerset County Economic Improvement Program grant for Façade Improvements. This year’s grant is for $75,000 which brings Manville’s total façade grants received to $315,000. Since the program funds up to 50% of the façade improvement costs, we have seen nearly $750,000 in total for improvements to your fellow property owners. To date, sixteen buildings have had façade improvements, and I think you will agree those buildings are an asset to the business community.
Please do not let this opportunity pass to make improvements at a reduced cost to your building façade. I understand that today’s economy may prevent you from doing major improvements, however, then please consider such small things as new awnings, signage, and door fronts.
Applications can be picked up at the Borough Hall, or we will mail them to you. For program details and information, please contact Gary Garwacke, Borough Administrator at 908-725-9478 x 103. The application deadline is December 1, 2008. We intend to notify the successful applicants in early 2009 so that you may begin your project in the Spring.
Very truly yours,
Lillian M. Zuza
Mayor

Local Charity, “Smiles for Kids,” to Host Spring Fundraiser in Manville
Mar 05, 2008 – The Smiles for Kids Foundation, a local charity based out of Manville, NJ, is delighted to invite the local community to join them for a night of dinner, dancing, music, and, most importantly, a chance to put a smile on the face of a child in need. Smiles for Kids, founded in 2006 by Timothy Manning, is a local foundation that is dedicated to uplifting the spirits of children with life-threatening illnesses by providing them with educational programs that develop their talents, nurture their creative spirits, and keep them focused on their bright futures.
This year’s first event, Rock the Future, will take place at 7:00 PM on March 22nd at JPs Steakhouse/Rhythms of the Night in Manville, NJ and will feature entertainment by Hit and Run. For a $75.00 donation, attendees will receive an unlimited buffet, open bar, and non-stop entertainment. General admission donations will also be available at $20 per person. All funds raised throughout the course of the night will directly benefit the programs that Smiles for Kids sponsors.
All of the programs sponsored by Smiles for Kids focus on keeping a child’s thoughts and goals on their future accomplishments, as well as putting a smile on the face of a child who has faced considerable hardships despite their young age. Smiles for Kids has been taking an active role in the local community and in helping children with life threatening illnesses since founder Timothy Manning first noticed the need for such an organization.
“I’ve always felt compelled to help sick children. Smiles for Kids was born when I discovered that most charities were unclear on where the donations went. All of the proceeds that Smiles for Kids raises are used directly to purchase items and to create programs that help sick children in our area.”
The Central Jersey Professional Group www.cjpg.org, also based out of Manville, NJ, will be Co-sponsoring Rock the Future alongside Smiles for Kids. Tickets can be purchased in advance by emailing Timothy Manning at tim@smilesforkidsfoundation.org. Galvanek & Wahl Advertising Agency Provides Pro Bono Work for Cancer Education Organization
Feb 19, 2008 – Central New Jersey’s Galvanek & Wahl Advertising Agency has recently announced a pro bono partnership with the American Cancer Educational Services (ACES) to provide branding, web design, promotional materials, and print collateral for the non profit organization. G&W launched a newly redesigned ACES website (www.focusoncancer.org) that is not only aesthetically superior, but easier for users who are seeking cancer information to navigate. ACES provides a clear, concise, reliable online cancer education resource that strives to help people better understand cancer and enables patients to make smarter choices on their treatments and understanding. The ACES slogan is simple, “We Inform, You Decide”.
The partnership with ACES is not G&W’s first foray into pro bono work. Previously, G&W has done work for the SLE Lupus Foundation and the Lupus Research Institute to raise awareness about clinical trials for lupus in order to gather information on treatments, prevention, and a cure. The foundation’s website (www.lupustrials.org) incorporates the brand developed by G&W and the campaign successfully increased traffic online from 200 to 5,000 views per month. The branding work also included the “Lupus Together Awareness Brochure,” a Summit Marketing Effectiveness Award winner.
“We are honored that ACES has allowed us to work so closely with them in the fight to make accurate information on cancer available to the public. G&W firmly believes that it is our social responsibility to do pro bono work for non profit organizations that may not have the resources to properly promote themselves,” says G&W partner and CEO, Paxton Galvanek.
Galvanek & Wahl’s plans for the ACES campaign include an extensive re-branding campaign that will feature a new ACES logo, a new website, and numerous print and promotional materials to help raise awareness about the organization, its goals, and fundraising opportunities. G&W will also re-brand the fundraising division of ACES which is called the “American Cancer Fund”; the new brand will have a similar look and feel to the new ACES brand.
Galvanek & Wahl is a full-service advertising agency based out of Manville, NJ that focuses on branding, web design, print, direct mail, TV, radio, and promotions. G&W has recently done work for several high profile clients including Coldwell Banker, Everbank Reverse Mortgage, Co., and their award winning work for Bristol Myers Squibb.

New mayor greeted with audience’s ovation
Written by: Audrey Levine Staff Writer for the Princeton Packet
With a standing ovation, about 100 residents and officials welcomed South 18th Avenue resident Lillian Zuza as Manville’s newest mayor at the 79th annual reorganization meeting Saturday.
”Family, friends, fellow councilpersons, honored guests and Manville residents, I stand before you today, so honored that you put your trust in me to lead the Borough of Manville for the next four years,” she said as she stood at the podium in the auditorium of the Manville High School. “I will do everything in my power to keep my promises and to do everything to keep Manville on the right track.”
Mayor Zuza defeated 16-year Democratic Mayor Angelo Corradino in November’s election, with a vote of 1,077 to 972.
The crowd that packed the auditorium also welcomed Councilwoman Sue Asher for her third term, and Councilman Ed Komoroski for his first term.
Ms. Asher, the Republican incumbent, and Democrat Mr. Komoroski won the election against Democratic incumbent Robert Petrone and Republican Steve Rodzinak.”I want to thank everyone for giving me a chance to serve on the council,” Mr. Komoroski said. “I hope to bring new ideas that will satisfy residents.”
Ms. Asher also received, and accepted, a nomination to once again serve as the 2008 council president when Councilman Stephen Szabo was quick to announce his choice for the position.
”I want to thank the residents and I appreciate your confidence in me,” Ms. Asher said. “I will strive to do the best I can for Manville.”
The remaining council members welcomed both Mayor Zuza and Mr. Komoroski, while also extending congratulations to Ms. Asher, and cited a few issues they are looking into for the coming year, including the rebuilding of the Rustic Mall, which Councilman Kenneth Otrimski cited as being of great importance this year.
We have to keep going with the Rustic Mall plans,” he said.
Mr. Otrimski then took a moment to remind residents that both he and Mayor Zuza live on South 18th Avenue.
”South 18th is now bookended, so when people come to me, I’ll send them down to Mayor Zuza,” he said to laughter from the council.
Mayor Zuza, in her address, also cited the Rustic Mall as being one of the major issues the borough needs to focus on in the coming year. She said she is looking to work with developers to create a plan for the site, and later, facilitate construction of the new building.
In addition to the Rustic Mall, Mayor Zuza restated several of her promises from her campaign. For example, she said, she has already begun the process of looking into cleaning the contamination of the property on the corner of South Main Street and Kyle Street, in which the owner has not paid taxes in more than 14 years and owes about $450,000.
”I contacted the Department of Environmental Protection immediately following the election and I will continue to lobby our state senator and Assembly people to assist us in getting the DEP to move forward to clean up this property so that we can recoup those back taxes,” she said.
Also of importance in the coming year, Mayor Zuza said, is to lobby the federal government for flood mitigation funds to continue the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Stony Brook Millstone River Basin project, and begin instituting ways to protect residents from future floods.
Mayor Zuza said that, aside from working on different projects in the town, she is hoping to make sure the concerns of all residents are heard and considered whenever they are presented.
”I look forward to serving as your mayor and promise to not disappoint you,” she said. “I love this town and only want the best for it and all the residents. I will work to bring Manville into the future.”
